O-21: Stimulation of The Endometrium with High-Grade Blastocyst Culture Supernatant (SEHB) Can Improve Pregnancy Outcome for Couples Undergoing Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI): A Randomized Clinical Trial

author

Abstract:

Background: To evaluate the impact of stimulating the endometrium with high-grade blastocyst culture supernatant (SEHB) perfusion before blastocyst transfer (BT) on implantation rate, pregnancy rate, and pregnancy outcome in ICSI cycles Materials and Methods: Ninety-four infertile couples who were referred to the Valiasr department of Imam Hospital complex between January 2010 and March 2011 enrolled in this randomized clinical trial. They were randomly divided into only BT or SEHB groups. Implantation rates, pregnancy rates, abortion, preterm and term delivery rates were compared between the two groups. Results: Implantation rates and pregnancy rates did not differ significantly between the two groups. The abortion rate was significantly higher in the BT only group while term delivery was significantly higher in SEHB group. Odds ratios of term delivery and abortion were 4.5 (p= 0.001) and 0.3 (p= 0.04), respectively. Conclusion: The SEHB application may improve pregnancy outcome in infertile couples who are candidates for the ICSI reproductive method.

O-32: Effects of Intrauterine Injection of Recombinant Human Chorionic Gonadotropin before Embryo Transfer on Outcome of In Vitro Fertilization/Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection: A Randomized Clinical Trial

Background: To evaluate the effectiveness of intrauterine injection of recombinant human chorionic gonadotropin (rhCG) before embryo transfer (ET). Materials and Methods: In this randomized placebocontrolled clinical trial, a total number of 182 infertile patients undergoing their first in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF-ICSI) were randomly assigned to receive 250 μg i...

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)

IVF has become a well-established treatment for certain types of infertility, including long-standing infertility due to tubal disease, endometriosis, unexplained infertility or infertility involving a male factor. Soon it became clear that certain couples with severe male-factor infertility could not be helped by conventional IVF. Extremely low sperm counts, impaired motility and/or abnormal m...

Does Subcutaneous Administration of Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor Improve Pregnancy Outcome in Patients Undergoing Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection?

Background:Expression of granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) and its receptors in embryo and endometrium implicates the involvement of this glycoprotein on implantation process. In the present study, we aimed to evaluate the impact of routine use of subcutaneous administration of G-CSF on pregnancy outcomes in intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) patients. <strong...

Paternal origin of trisomy 21 following intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

One important aspect in the debate on the genetic risks associated with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is the possible increased rate of chromosomal abnormalities in resulting pregnancies. ICSI was performed in a 27 year old man with asthenoteratozoospermia and his 25 year old wife. There was a spontaneous miscarriage at 9 weeks of gestation. Cytogenetic investigation revealed trisomy ...

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) using cryopreserved sperm from men with malignant neoplasm yields high pregnancy rates.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the efficacy of IVF-intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) in patients who cryobanked semen before cancer treatment. DESIGN Retrospective consecutive study. SETTING University-based IVF unit. PATIENT(S) One hundred eighteen couples undergoing IVF-ICSI using pretreatment frozen sperm. INTERVENTION(S) Treatment follow-up.
